2012 volkswagen beetle review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It does this in a big way, with a clean-sheet redesign that makes it new again. It's the new beetle, not a new beetle.  the 2012 volkswagen beetle jumps like a bug on a skillet from its heritage. It's 7. 3 inches longer, 0. 5 inches lower, and 3. 3 inches wider than the 2010 new beetle, last one made. The stretch morphs it into a real car, not so much a cute little thing. It looks good with more dynamic proportions. It's still unmistakably vw beetle.  the coefficient of drag, 0. 37, is surprisingly good, although not near the lower (by 2 inches) honda civic, at 0. 315, or the smaller ford fiesta at 0. 33. Interior volume has grown by 5 percent, from 81 to 85 cubic feet. The roof is lower, but because it's also longer, there's a bit more rear headroom. In the front, it gains 1. 9 inches in legroom and 2. 5 inches in shoulder room, making the 2012 beetle feel less like a capsule.  the front legroom is 0. 7 inches more than that in the all-new 2012 toyota yaris, but the beetle's rear seat has just 31. 4 inches of legroom, which is 1. 9 inches less than the yaris, on a wheelbase that's 1. 1 inches longer.  the trunk of the 2012 beetle is spacious at 15. 4 cubic feet. With the rear seat folded it's nearly 30 cubic feet, and the high-swinging hatchback enables giant things to fit inside, making the beetle handy for hauling.  the seats and trim are neat but not fancy. The bucket seats are clean, simple, and comfortable, with excellent bolstering.  instrumentation is so clean it's memorable for its rarity. In the center of the big clear speedometer there's a multi-function digital display, accessed with a flick of the driver's right thumb, scrolling a small wheel on the steering wheel. It makes for safe driving!  the 2. 5-liter inline five-cylinder engine, with an iron block and double overhead cams, is carried over from the new beetle, but the horsepower increases by 20, to 170 hp. Torque increases by seven foot-pounds, to 177 foot-pounds at 4250 rpm. It's mated to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, or optional 6-speed automatic transmission that didn't wow us. We've driven a vw golf with that 5-speed manual transmission, which is satisfying and gives the car pep from 0 to 60. We recommend the manual.  acceleration in the 2. 5l is adequate, and 75 mph on the freeway is smooth and mostly effortless. The 6-speed manual automatic transmission isn't as much fun as the manual, especially with this engine. The automatic's side-to-side semi-manual shifting using the lever at the floor was better than nothing, but not very racy.  a 2. 0-liter turbo model is also available that comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and a different rear suspension. The turbocharged engine makes 207 horsepower and 217 pound-feet of torque at a low 1700 rpm, and it gets about the same fuel mileage although on high-test gas. It's a 2. 0-liter turbodiesel with direct injection, making 236 pound-feet of torque. The engine has been used successfully for some time in the golf and jetta tdi.  the chassis is rigid and the body solid, with subframes front and rear, supporting the suspension. The rear uses a torsion beam, although the beetle turbo uses a more sophisticated multi-link, for the higher threshold of cornering. The freeway ride in the beetle doesn't suffer for the torsion beam. It's comfortable and consistent. Potholes don't hurt, but rough pavement can make the rear end of the car want to dance. lineupthere is a stripped-down beetle 18,995), but good luck finding one. It uses the 170-horsepower 2. 5-liter inline 5-cylinder engine and 5-speed manual transmission. The beetle turbo comes standard with bluetooth, ipod connectivity, three-color ambient lighting, larger brakes with red calipers, second glovebox, sport seating surfaces, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, foglights, three additional gauges, and alloy pedals. It makes 140 horsepower with a fat 236 pound-feet of torque, using either the 6-speed manual or 6-speed dsg. That's how the silhouette of the beetle changes, by making it 7. 3 inches longer, 3. 3 inches wider, and 0. 5 inches lower. The new shape is more dynamic and muscular; gone is the cuteness, although not the identity. Its coefficient of drag is 0. 37, a good number that still lags behind some competitors, and reveals the legacy of a round bug. Rear headroom, and front legroom and shoulder room is more than that in the new beetle, so it doesn't feel so much like a capsule. But it's not so roomy in the rear, with just 31. 4 inches of legroom, which is 1. 9 inches less than in the yaris, despite the beetle being nearly 14 inches longer. However, that excess length is mostly overhang; the beetle wheelbase is only 1. 1 inches longer than the yaris.  the 2012 beetle trunk has grown to a spacious 15. 4 cubic feet, a whopping increase of 27 percent over the new beetle; and with the 60/40 rear seat folded, there's a vast 29. 9 cubic feet behind the front seats. The rear trunk lid is like a hatchback or wide liftgate, so giant things can fit inside. With the dear old vw bug, there would have been no way, for even one of them.  there's good visibility out the front and rear, even with the low roof and high beltline. And it's a quiet ride. For example the extra glovebox, called the kaeferfach or beetle bin. For sure the simplicity of the instrument pan. 2012 toyota yaris review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Redesigned, with more cargo space, better cornering. introductionthe toyota yaris has been completely redesigned for 2012. The front seats are as sporty and comfortable as any we've found in that class, and feature toyota's advanced whiplash injury-lessening (wil) design, supporting the upper body from head to lower back. Like all new cars nowadays, the new body uses an impact-absorbing structure with high-strength steel to better distribute collision forces.  the wheelbase is 98. 8 inches, a fraction longer than the ford fiesta, honda civic and mazda 2, but a fraction shorter than the chevy sonic; however its length is inches less than those cars. The yaris is called a five-seater, but don't count on it.  the 2012 toyota yaris comes as a 3-door or 5-door liftback. A sedan version is not available. After decades, it seems the eminently practical hatchback/liftback body style is starting to prevail over the smoother looking but less functional compact sedan.  yaris comes in three trims: l, le, and se (5-door only). The yaris l and sport-tuned yaris se come standard with a tight 5-speed gearbox, while a new 4-speed automatic transmission is optional; yaris le only comes with the new automatic, which is compact, lightweight, and lower friction.  standard equipment in all models has been increased, and options are reduced to make buying simpler. Suspension changes in the 2012 yaris include re-tuned front macpherson struts and rear torsion beam, for a better ride and tighter corning; this is an improvement we could feel, and applaud. Its front disc brakes are larger, and it's fitted with alloy wheels and wider profile p195/50/r16 tires.  standard safety equipment includes frontal dual-stage airbags, front-seat mounted side airbags, driver's knee airbag, and roll-sensing airbag curtains front and rear. Yaris features toyota's star safety system, including stability control, traction control, abs with ebd, and brake assist. Standard equipment includes smart stop technology, toyota's system that defaults to the brakes when both brake and gas pedal are pushed. It adds smoke-trim multi-reflector halogen headlamps, integrated fog lamps, color-keyed grille with sport mesh insert, front and rear underbody spoilers, rear spoiler and diffuser, and chrome-tipped exhaust. Inside, there are sport seats and sporty instrumentation, with analog speedometer and tachometer, and digital display. A leather-trimmed three-spoke tilting steering wheel includes audio controls and standard cruise control. It's longer, lower and wider, which might begin to change the yaris image. Especially the se, which has wider tires, alloy wheels, spoilers and diffusers, and body-colored touches.  its new aggressive stance comes from a bold nose and head-on view, with wide headlamps having integrated turn signals. The side profile shows a steep beltline and curving shoulders that flow to the rear.  the yaris now comes in eight colors, including super white, classic silver metallic, magnetic gray metallic, black sand pearl, absolutely red, lagoon blue mica, wave line pearl and blazing blue pearl. The car's lines are now cool enough that in black or gray metallic, it actually looks powerful, in a subcompact sort of way. interiorwe love the sport seats in the yaris se. The new high-quality fabric is rugged and the fit is all-around excellent. The yaris chassis and ride feel solid, and we think the seats have a lot to do with this. But it would feel solid anyhow.  there's decent room in the rear for a subcompact, with 33. 3 inches of legroom. The rear bench seat in the l model folds flat with one knob, while the le and se models have a 60/40 split folding rear seat. The dashboard is pleasing, and toyota has moved the speedometer to in front of the driver where it belongs; the previous yaris located the speedo in the center of the dashboard, so the structure could be used in right-hand-drive cars, to reduce cost.  there's a nice, small tachometer to the left of the speedo, which has good clear numbers with a digital window showing time, temp, odo, twin trip meters, clock, fuel mileage, and average speed. The instrument lighting glows red and cool at night. The shift knob and thick steering wheel grip feel good in the dark. It's a new three-spoke, with a flat bottom to stay out of the way of a driver's knees when climbing in and out.  cabin conveniences are especially important in a subcompact, and the yaris has good ones. Climate control knobs are as simple and easy as they come. It's got a roomy glovebox, six cup and bottle holders, door pockets, and cubbies near the shift lever, although no center console between the seats, where the emergency brake lever is located. There's good legroom in front, 40. 6 inches.  but we wonder what happened to toyota's thinking, with the radio/sound system. Music mode or talk mode appears, that's all it does. Spin and nothing happens. We found it frustrating. What's more, the reception was lousy. Twenty miles outside the city limits, and we couldn't get the biggest fm station in portland.  back to the upside. Great, safe, high beams with the standard halogen headlamps. A terrific one-arm windshield wiper that sprays fluid directly onto the path of the blade.  finally, one of the most important things: the yaris is quiet inside. The engine isn't buzzy, and there's tons of new sound insulation. The doors close with a healthy thunk. driving impressionwe got a chance to drive the yaris in the snow, and it performed well. Better traction than we expected up a steep slippery street, and down that same street, the anti-lock brakes delivered security.  actually, secure might be the best single word to describe the overall feeling. The toyota yaris feels way solid. It's not big on the outside, but its roominess on the inside contributes to the solid feeling. It's not as quick and sporty feeling as the lightweight mazda2 or the ford fiesta, and.

Carson style removable hard top with snap side window curtains what once started out as a run of the mill average 'old car' sitting in a barn, now has a shared vision of 'cool' and 'hot rodding' pumping through its carburetors. The previous owner had gotten his fill of seeing plenty of average old cars when he took special notice of the chrysler and imagined it as an unique cruiser that would stand out in a crowd. It does that very well! He had it stripped of its trim all around, had the roof completely removed, chopped the windshield, and had the doors shaved. Then support was added between the b pillar door latch posts tying the body together behind the front seat for added structural strength, very clever and well done. The driveline was removed and freshened prior to paint and re-assembly. This was not an over the top build, simply done with and for pure enjoyment. The back deck almost perfectly appears to be custom made for sitting while parading down main st.

'yes!'. Porsche documented, authenticated, and certified !!!! The model: homologation is a funny word, that has given us some of the best road going cars out there. The desire to stand on the top of the podium, and the pesky fia rulebook, finally gave americans what we had always wanted in 1976: a porsche that could hold its own down the straights. The product of tinkering in the porsche r&d shop, that began in the 1960s, the 930 had it all with the addition of a turbo to the base 911. It was nimble and had the zip of a turbocharged 3-liter engine. The combination that put out 280 horsepower, has become a bit of an urban legend with tales of unbridled tail whipping power when the turbo “kicked in.” perhaps exaggerated, the stories of power and handling were enough to sell the upgraded sports cars until 1989. With power peaking at a still respectable 330 hp the path to porsches modern machines was clear. Thirty some odd years later, the porsche 911 is an all turbo line, ceasing production of anything that breathes on its own in 2017. The interior space shows a well-cared for and gingerly-used car, as the 81,000 miles were put on the clock. While fast, the 930 is, after all, a luxury car, with premium appointments like heated seats, power windows, and a sunroof. Like all 930s, the best part is out back under the whale tail. What started as suitable numbers matching 3. 3-liter engine, was transformed by patrick motor sports, into a bona fide streetfighter. A garrett turbo now forces the air into the hpx direct injection. Out the other end is a billy boat exhaust, that produces a classic and refined porsche sound. All that power is then put to the ground through a smooth shifting g50 five-speed transmission and brand new rubber.
